SQL Server Programming: From 2000 to 2005

Presented as a Microsoft Mini-Code Camp, this full day of instruction highlights the programming aspects of SQL Server 2005 as it has evolved from SQL Server 2000.  This presentation was authored and presented jointly with Adam Machanic.

There's some instruction in introductory aspects of SQL Server Programming such as:

  • Normalization
  • Using NULL
  • Grouping
  • Advanced Queries
  • User-Defined Functions (UDF)

The major focuses are on new features such as:

  • T-SQL Enhancements
  • UDF Enhancements
  • SQLCLR, which enables the creation of functions, stored procedures, triggers, user-defined aggregates and user-defined types with the .Net languages C# and VB.Net
  • SQL Server Service Broker
